University Staff

For University Departments, Uniprint is the most cost-effective option for printing projects. Unlike other commercial printers, our purpose is to serve the University of Otago. This means our fees for University Departments are not driven by profits - rather, we try to keep costs as low as possible. And because of the large quantities of University printing we manage, we can negotiate rates with our suppliers and achieve economies of scale, enabling us to pass on further savings.

Plus we have the institutional knowledge that helps take the hassle out of your printing projects. We know the University environment well, including key dates on the University calendar, and details around use of the University's logo.

Uniprint remembers that its primary purpose is to serve the University of Otago and ensure total customer satisfaction.

Course Booklets and Materials (Info for Staff)

Uniprint is the primary choice for printing course booklets and materials for University Departments. We offer an efficient, low-cost service and give guidance on format and the best economic options. We are experienced in dealing with large bulk orders, and recognise the importance of reliability and efficiency to ensure your course can run smoothly.

Once the material is printed, our Campus Courier can then either deliver the course booklets to a specific department around campus, or the Uniprintshop can supply the course booklets and materials directly to students for a small fee.

How selling Course Readers through The Uniprintshop works

  1. At least 3 weeks prior to the beginning of semester (the earlier the better) course readers are arranged to be printed and bound at Uniprint.
  2. The quantity to be printed is determined, usually by working out the class numbers available at the time with a percentage of that number being printed. For example, for a first year paper 70% of the class number will be printed.
  3. The readers are printed and delivered to the Uniprintshop on the ground floor of the Information Services building. The readers are printed with a barcode that is loaded onto the Uniprint Shop till system.
  4. Once the job has been completed the price of the reader is calculated. This is done by calculating the cost of producing the job with 10% added as the charge for distributing it via the Uniprintshop and then GST added. The total is then divided by the number of books printed.
  5. Departments may choose to subsidize the reader for students by paying part of the production costs.
  6. When ordering, students pay for their books and receive a numbered slip. They must bring the numbered slip with them when they call to collect their book 48 hours later.
  7. If readers ordered by departments are left unsold at the end of semester they are returned to the department and charged accordingly. If remaining readers were ordered by the Uniprintshop, Uniprint will cover the cost.
  8. Stationery

Uniprint is your one-stop shop for all items of University stationery.

We can quickly prepare business cards, letterhead, envelopes, compliments slips and more, customised to your Department and based on approved templates and branding requirements.
